The dance

The art of leading and following.

You don't need to know anything about Tantra. Tantric Dance is a guided evening of music and simple partner exercises built around one question: what happens when you lead, follow and choose — consciously? Tantric Dance brings tantra out of theory and into lived experience. It was developed by Art of Loving in the Netherlands in 2007, inspired by classical tantra and neotantra, as an active meditation for the expansion of consciousness.

01

Leading & following

In pairs, one partner leads, creating and initiating the movement with their whole body, while the other receives and surrenders into the flow with eyes closed. The dance is close, with full-body contact. A dance lasts about three tracks with one person leading throughout, then you're invited to choose again — new partner, new role, or stay as you are. Couples are welcome to stay together for the whole evening. Simple roles that reveal a great deal about how you give direction, receive it and trust.

02

Responsiveness

Rather than performing moves, you practise noticing small signals — a pause, a softening, a hesitation — and adjusting. Listening becomes something you do with your whole body.

03

Conscious choice

Before and during each exercise you choose: what feels like a yes, what is a no, when to adjust, when to pause. Choosing — and changing your mind — is the practice.

04

Deep presence

Much of the dance happens with eyes closed. Without sight, attention moves from how things look to how they feel — this is the heart of presence in Tantric Dance. Closing your eyes, or wearing a blindfold, is always a choice.

05

Energetic balance

Every dance is an exchange of giving and receiving energy. You notice what you offer, what you take in, and how the balance between you shifts.

06

Embodiment

Music and guided cues bring your attention from thinking into sensing. Breath, posture, rhythm — the body becomes the way in.

07

Boundaries

Every exercise invites you to notice your yes, your no and your maybe — and to honour them. Saying no is part of the practice.

08

Play

When you stop trying to get it right, something softer appears: curiosity, laughter and spontaneity — always within the limits you set.

The heart of the practice

The magic of polarities.

We explore the polarities of masculine and feminine, control and surrender, guidance and flow, giving and receiving energy in a safe and conscious way. Whatever your gender, you explore both sides — and the energy that moves between them.

Masculine — Feminine

Control — Surrender

Guidance — Flow

Transform your daily life.

Deep connection

With yourself and with others, beyond words.

Trust in life

Learning to let go and be held — and to hold.

Rediscover playfulness

Curiosity and laughter instead of getting it right.

Body awareness

Sensing from the inside, not only thinking.

Emotional resilience

Staying present with whatever arises.

Strengthen boundaries

Knowing your yes and your no, and voicing them.

What it isn't.

It isn't a performance, a dance class or choreography. It isn't sexual, and it isn't therapy. It's an evening of being guided back into your body, in good company, at your own pace.
